Roylands Stables testimonials
It's a relaxed and fun place to be, at Roylands. As a novice, I went to make specific improvements. The tuition was superb. Within half an hour of assessment in the school, my three days were planned out on how my objectives were going to be met. Not only that, they were far surpassed. Simon's teaching is top-class, and the excellent range of horses also meant that I could learn specific things on selected horses. In short: excellent all round. I will certainly be back.
Just a little thank you for making my ride the best it could possibly be! I was on the 2:00 ride on Saturday that went to Woolacombe bay, and would just like to say that it was the best ride I have ever been on, I particularly enjoyed the thrill of cantering along the sand and watching the beautiful scenery from on top of the cliff by the beach. Duke was perfect and didn't put a toe (Or rather, "hoof"!) out of line!

Myself, my two cousins and a friend came with you on a beach ride on the 19th July. I was informed that you're normally closed on Sundays but opened specially as it was my birthday that Su my cousin was organising the ride for.
I had an amazing time riding Holly, and wont ever forget the views and the feeling of cantering on the beach. I had total trust in Holly which just shows how well she has been trained. I will definately be wanting to come back when I next visit Devon, it was a birthday I will never forget!!!
Thank you again so much for helping in making one of my ultimate dreams come true!!!

"Everyone we met at Roylands, both those that worked there and those that keep their horses there, were incredibly helpful and friendly when we went there for a three day riding holiday, and it made a real difference staying with Graeme and Vicki as they know Roylands and Simon so well. Simon is an inspiring instructor who allowed us to gain confidence in our own time whilst also pushing us to achieve more both from our horses and ourselves. With the days made up of hacks, lessons and stable management it gave us an opportunity to get really get stuck in, which was exactly what we were looking for. The beach ride was such a highlight, especially riding back behind the dunes with the wonderful views over Putsborough and Woolacombe. It was also handy to have a great pub a couple of doors down from Breakers so we could spend the evenings with a good bottle of wine and some tasty food, mulling over which of the Roylands horses we wished we could take home with us! All in all the whole weekend was a great success, and we learnt a lot. We'll be heading back to Roylands and Breakers very soon, we're especially looking forward to some more of the great Breakers breakfasts!"

"Wow! What a great mini-break! Fantastic B&B, friendly, knowledgeable hosts. Great house, fantastic breakfast!
Riding school two minutes drive away, with experienced, enthusiastic, encouraging, brilliant staff. Would recommend the accommodation and riding experience to anyone!"

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Breakers, with its' cosy comfort, spectacular breakfasts and homely optional evening meals, and the riding opportunities offered by Roylands Stables. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, Simon's instruction very encouraging and supportive, and really built up my confidence, and the horses were really well matched to what they were asked to do. I always felt safe and secure, and riding the horses in from the fields in the morning and out again at the end of the days, through the pretty streets of Croyde felt like a real privilege, and made me feel a part of the 'team' at Roylands. The beach ride was probably the highlight for me, but being able to jump three small fences after only two lessons, gave me a real sense of achievement, and has made me want to do more at home. I'm pretty certain I'll be back!!"
